02. Your child is struggling academically,
showing problematic behaviors at home or needing extra help to
deal with ups and downs in her life. It seems that she is too
overwhelmed to cope unaided. *Behavioral Intervention
Through
interventions with Alicia, you will be equipped with the appropriate
skills and knowledge to better communicate with your child, deal
with your childs behavior and manage your own expectations
for your child. You will also be empowered to maneuver around obstacles
to your childs success and provide effective assistance both
at home and in school. Your child will develop new learning strategies,
study skills, organizational management skills, positive behaviors
and attitudes to be a successful student. Your child will thus be
given the tools to learn more effectively, improve in their social
and emotional development and achieve her fullest potential.
Alicia Pon uses play therapy, art facilitation and behavioral modification
techniques to work through your childs problems. In addition,
Alicia uses specific challenges to build your childs skills
and generalize those skills to both home and school settings.
Play therapy and Art facilitation leverage the therapeutic power
of art and play to help your child resolve psychosocial and specified
learning difficulties. It is through art and play that your child
explores the world, and learns problem solving, interactive and
social skills. Alicia teaches your child how to deal with her emotions,
learn teamwork and develop educational skills, creativity and maturity.
Behavioral modification techniques are based on learning theory
such as creating a learning system for your child so that any positive
behavior is rewarded and any negative behavior is dealt with or
ignored. Alicia also uses the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques
and Treatment and Education of Autistic and the related Communications
handicapped Children (TEACCH) model to help improve a wide range
of skills in your child with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD)
such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Aspergers Syndrome and others.
All of Alicias techniques have been verified through extensive
research in the field of Educational and Child Psychology.
Alicia Pon also uses multi-sensory teaching strategies, behavioral
modification and other appropriate intervention techniques to work
with your child who is diagnosed with Attention Deficit/Hyperactive
Disorders, Dyslexia (Reading and Writing difficulties) or any other
problematic behaviors.
